So I have this favia that I bought for next to nothing hoping to help it heal up and maybe end up with a pretty coral. Well, it's certainly growing, but not like I expected. The first picture is of the 1 REALLY BIG polyp that I'm talking about.

It appears to be growing out and forming new mouths in a honeycomb type of way. I've never seen this before! The second picture is of the other side of the same coral with the "normal" polyps. This thing is easily an inch across! HUGE!

So what do yall think? Is this normal? Something that you've seen before? What can I expect from this coral? More of the same type of growth (ie: honeycomb) or is this a one time weird event? Thanks!

The picture disappeared! Here it is again. Apparently this is just how this type of favia grows. Kinda cool!
